Flowery Fun

Can you believe I bought this Azalea at Costco? Me neither. It was my third time ever at the store, and although it wasn't my favorite shopping experience, I do not regret buying this beautiful housewarming party centerpiece. Come on spring! I'm ready!

Year Round Wreathing

Ever since we bought a beautiful holiday wreath from the local boy scouts, I knew that our door would always need a wreath. Once you have a wreath, the door looks bare without it. Since we are having a housewarming party this weekend and it is basically spring in the PNW, I bought a humane society wreath to replace the old one. This one is made of fresh lavender and rosemary and it smells as good as it looks. Should provide a pleasant welcome to our guests tomorrow!

Little Green Dress

Couldn't wait to go to Fade to Light fashion show. My husband took these photos of my little green silk dress from Grana that I chose to sport at the show. He isn't a fashion photographer, but at least the green matched the paint in his office.

The show was so moving! Can't wait for part 2 in August.

Bollywood Theater in Portland OR

Oh Portland food scene.....Always exceeding my expectations. When I moved here from NYC I was a little skeptical, but every time I eat out in Portland I am blown away by the originality of the delicious restaurants (and the fact that everywhere I go has some local hard cider available). Bollywood Theater was delicious. They claim Indian street food in a relaxed setting. I would say it is like Indian Tapas in a Bohemian setting, but perhaps that is splitting hairs. It also didn't hurt that my lovely sister joined me for lunch (sisters make everything better).

Old Town Battle Grounds - Lovely Little Coffee Date

It was so much fun to try out Old Town Battle Grounds, a local little coffee shop in small community (Battle Ground, Washington). It was worth the drive. There are many local businesses, including my hair salon, that reside in buildings that used to be churches. Maybe some day I will do a "Tour de Church" post. For now, I was content staying in one place and sipping my cappuccino on a sunny afternoon in the PNW.

Shoe Love

Everyone needs that one pair of shoes. You know the pair. You slip them on, and instantly feel beautiful. Not only that, the comfort factor is there. Mine are this pair of Tahari shoes that I bought four years ago. I still pick them when I want to dress up my outfit, even when I am going to be standing around all night (or day). I wore them out last night, and got all warm and fuzzy when I saw them by the door this morning. They scream, " Last night was a good night."

Love Yourself, Today and Everyday

Holidays, such as this one that takes place on February 14th, can cause joy. This type of holiday can also make people feel loss, loneliness, and sadness. Although I have been with my significant other for 6 years, I like to make Valentine's Day about self-love. Paradoxically, that is a more inclusive interpretation of the holiday.

How I am celebrating:

It's All Good at Mount Hood!

With all the winter weather we have received this year, it seemed the perfect time to ski Mount Hood for the first time. It is a short drive to the big volcano, and a couple of the areas have skiing year round on limited terrain. We chose Timberline Lodge after looking at the maps of the areas. Although the parking lot was full when we arrived, and we had to wait about 20-30 minutes in the car for someone to vacate a parking spot, the lodge and the slopes were roomy. Such a beautiful day!

A roaring fire is a must with any ski day!

Loving the PNW Climate

It has been cold (like 34 degrees F), rainy, and a little snow flurry now and then. However, the minute the rain stops and the sun comes out this is what I see:

Happy Friday!

Decorating with Lights!

My interior decorating style is one for working with the changing seasons (bringing the outside in). My husband and I are not religious (unless you count Buddhism), so it is more of a Mother Nature seasonal situation here. There are so many ways to play with seasonal textures, materials, scents, and even sounds. In these darker winter months, I have been craving more light (especially since most community members have taken down their Christmas lights). This cute little nightlight (made by my MIL) is just what the decorator ordered. It is subtle, like winter light, and adds some much needed warmth and cheer to my hallway.

Bolo Tie- My New Statement Necklace

While cleaning out my grandparent's home last fall, I grabbed my grandpa's bolo tie at the last minute. I have memories of him wearing it to special occasions when I was a child growing up in a small farm/ranch community in Montana. Much to my surprise, it has become my new favorite statement necklace and I have been wearing it to special occasions. It also speaks to my love of astrology. Such a proud Taurus!

For the Love of Skincare

As most of my friends and family know, I am a skincare fanatic. It has made a big difference in my life in terms of dealing with unpleasant skin issues, but it is also just a way I cultivate self love and compassion when I need it the most. Many friends and family members have hit me up for skincare advice over the years, and I am good source from my own dealings with all the sensitive skin issues I have had. Not to mention the fact that I have shelled out some serious moo-lah trying a million products. I always try to keep it natural, especially with makeup (it stays on your face ALL day) but efficacy is my bottom line. I have a few core all natural brands that I use all the time including 100% pure and juice beauty. However, Korean Skincare has been the biggest game changer for me. I discovered this Korean online shop called memebox, and I just cannot shut up about all the offerings at super low prices (and I am girl willing to splurge in this department). Some Korean beauty must tries: sheet masks, anything with snail mucin (I'm serious), fermented products (probiotics, baby), and 7 seconds morning sheets. If you want to try this company, feel free to use my link above to get a first-timer discount (I'm a memebox points member obviously).

Here's to make-up free days whenever I'm overtired and rushed to get out the door!
